How Do You and Your Dog Relate?
Executive Summary Question:
What happens in relationships?
You and Your Dog
Spoiler: choose Nature.
What holistic foundation do you follow for you and your #dog? Have you ever even thought about it? I’ll venture probably not—our culture doesn’t encourage it.
- You have a formal, named foundation you consciously follow, but you never considered how holistic it is.
- You sorta follow your gut; it’s not anything you put conscious effort into defining—you’re winging it.
- You don’t have a formal method or philosophy you’re following.
- You follow Nature.
Broadly speaking, when it comes to #dogs, humans, and training,
- there’s Nature
- and there’s YouTube.
You can follow Nature, or you can follow YouTube—you can do things what way Nature does them, or you can do things the way they’re done on YouTube.
The Case in Support of YouTube
YouTube is great for learning about and collecting widely contrasting ideas. Unfortunately, YouTube isn’t holistic.
The Case in Support of Nature
Nature doesn’t have an instruction manual or search field, or a play, pause, rewind, or scrub feature; it plays non-stop. It is, however, holistic.
So What Do You Do?
Do you
- jump onto YouTube and try to make sense out of 1,000s of unrelated ideas that are easily accessible, some of which are fun to watch,
- or do you follow Nature’s complete but unwritten rule book which takes time to figure out how to figure out?
There’s no right answer: how you answer it establishes an indicator for the type of relationship you’ll have with your dog. Spoiler: choose Nature.
